  • Akrotiri (Departure all jets):
    • Runway 10 (mag 106).
    • Tower Freq: 252.000 (Primary #1 for all)
    • TACAN: 107X
    • ATIS: 251.500 (listen for runway, TACAN, ILS, weather information)
    • Beware departing Tankers and AWACS
    • Departure Order: When Ready!
  • BARCAP Tasking (all flights):
    • After departing Akrotiri, sequence your waypoints and report directly to your BARCAP station.  All other waypoints are simply to show the Wall and your BARCAP box/chainsaw midpoint.  The chainsaw midpoints is an East-West 'belt' across the middle of your DCA box.
      • Uzi: Chainsaw between steerpoints 10 and 11.
      • Roman: Chainsaw between waypoints 9 and 10.
      • Squid: Chainsaw between waypoints 10 and 11.
    • Your waypoints will form a box for your flight's primary responsibility.
    • Fight lead's discretion, but I recommend chainsaw tactics (watch videos in briefing document) to keep one of your elements always pointing at the threat axis (East to West).
      • Last time, we fired at ~25 miles, provided guidance until almost ~20 miles then a full-burner "out" back to the West and it worked well.
      • It's really easy to mess up your chainsaw/grinder and lose the mutual support it offers.
    • Recommend an altitude of 27,000+ and a contract speed over 300.
      • We did 25,000 Ft and a contract speed of 350 which was a bit fuel inefficient given the need for combat-ready speed.
  • Fuel:
    • All flights have 3x Fuel Tanks and need to be combat-ready the full time on station.
    • Recommend not refueling to keep your full strength on-station the full duration.
    • Set bingo to 5,000lbs; call M.C. when you hit Bingo and reset to Joker of 3,500.  M.C. will launch the Alert 10 jets to replace your sector.
    • At Joker, RTB to Akrotiri.
  • Tankers (although the intent is NOT to refuel this mission):
    • Texaco (KC-135MRPS): 251.000; TACAN 51Y; Aux #2 (F18s) - located between Roman and Squid flights, to the West.
    • Shell (KC-135): 127.000; TACAN 27Y; Aux #2 (F16s) - located behind Uzi flight, to its West.
  • Loadouts
    • F18s: 3x Fuel, 6x AIM-120C, 2x AIM-9X
    • F16s: 2x Fuel, 1x ECM Pod, 1x TGP, 6x AIM-120C (or swap ECM Pod for 3rd Fuel Tank)
  • Situations to Avoid / Tips:
    • Don't call M.C. to see if you can fire; you have the best S.A.
      • ROE: Bogey West of the "Wall" = Bandit & Clear to Fire.
      • Sky will be busy, keep comms a bit tighter than usual to leave priority to engagement callouts/deconflictions.
    • Getting too close to the Wall or Bogeys.  You may be on the hot leg of your chainsaw, but if you close much further than 20 miles and they decide to turn hot on you, you'll have lost part of your missile range advantage.
      • Fix: Communicate with your cold-element when you're approaching 25 miles that if the bogey remain East of the Wall, you'll be turning cold shortly.  Cold element will turn hot as you egress so that if they all of a sudden turn hot, you're covered.
      • Don't merge unless you have no other choice; with a cloud layer at ~20,000 Ft the AI will have an advantage.
    • Both hot and cold elements need to turn the same (left or right) direction; if hot turns right and cold turns left, the cold element would be firing right into the egressing hot element.
      • Fix: Set a standard turn direction and stick to it - recommend Left.
    • Too long of a chainsaw leg.  Waypoints are set for a 30-mile maximum length with two halves of 15 miles; should be enough time to sort targets and shoot before you turn outbound at 20 miles.
      • If you need to shift your chainsaw West, that's fine - just keep your cold leg apprised.
  • Handing off Bogeys:
    • If a bogey is transiting along the Wall from your sector to another sector (i.e. heading north from Squid's AOR to Roman's AOR); talk them onto it as succinctly as possible (since Uzi may be mid-engagement at that point) and make sure they've got them bugged before you drop your bugs.
  • Recovery
    • Akrotiri, runway 10 (mag 106).
  • Weather
    • Rainy
    • Scattered Clouds
    • 1st Cloud Layer: 9,500-10,200; second layer about 20,000 Ft.
    • QFR 29.85
