FLIGHT - Saturday 3/29 - 9PM EST - OPERATION GRAY FIRE (Persian Gulf)

Post by Taco »

Sign up and select your jet (F18, F16, and F14 - as long as you have a wingman I'll try to make it work).

PILOTS: TACO, PRIMO, SPECTRE, SQUIRREL, DRILLIN, KESTREL, DANGER, MURF

Mission borrowed from DCS User Files: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/ ... s/3343809/; just swapped in minor things and our standard frequencies/TACANs.

BRIEFING:
The Houthis, backed by Iran, are severely disrupting maritime traffic in the region. The United States and its allies have decided to carry out strikes on all Houthi territory in Yemen in order to reduce their military potential.
  • Intel has positive ID on numerous weapon stores, command and control locations in Sana'a, and key personnel that it assesses will last only another 90 minutes.
  • Plan is a synchronized strike at 06:00 Zulu (02:00 Local) with delayed fuzing to minimize collateral damage.
  • Distance to target is ~200 miles each way over hostile territory.
  • Enemy has limited SAMs (SA-6, HQ-7, and SA-8s), no fighter jets, but extensive AAA.
  • Set up your T.O.T., take-off, top-up on fuel if you'd like or just circle.  Do what you need to do at whatever speed you need to do it at, just make your T.O.T.
    • Fly any realistic/high speed (>300 groundspeed) to reach your attack waypoint at your set TOT of 02:00 Local.
  • You do not need to terrain mask given enemy's shorter-range, old radars, fly at high-altitude to avoid short range SAM threats and reduce jet noise.
  • Maintain primary COM silence near target except for Marlin callouts (Aux COMs okay throughout).
Briefing with kneeboards to be posted in Discord shortly.  Kneeboards show Time on Target, waypoints, and target photos.

    • Decide based on your armament whether you want to silence active radars or just focus on any SAM threats that turn on.

  • Time on Target: 01:58 local.
  • Transit Altitude: 15,000 - 25,000 (SA-6 has engagement ceiling of ~26,000 ft before accounting for ground elevation; if they target anyone we want it to be us with Jammers and HARMs; not the strike package.)
